San Francisco Vzet procedure is an advanced ultrasound treatment that uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) technology to lift and tighten skin. Learn the advantages and disadvantages of Vzet from San Francisco’s finest skin experts at Azalasf.com.
The use of ultrasound technology has become very popular lately as more and more people are looking for non-surgical treatments to reverse the aging process. Vzet is a new ultrasound treatment, similar to Ultherapy® that uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) waves to heat up the deep dermal layers.
Vzet promises to soften wrinkles and tighten skin on the face, neck and various areas of the body.
Vzet claims to offer similar results to Ultherapy® but with less pain, downtime and fewer side-effects. HIFU energy is delivered 3.5mm deep into the skin using cellular friction to heat up tissues to 65˚C, the point at which collagen coagulation and synthesis occurs. Skin tightening for the facial area can take 3-6 months to be noticeable and 3-5 sessions are recommended for best results. Vzet has two modes: one for skin-tightening and a deeper 4.5 mm wavelength for lipolysis, destroying fats cells for the purpose of body contouring.
As with most ultrasound non-surgical skin treatments, Vzet struggles to produce consistent, reliable results from one patient to the next. It works well for some and not for others. It seems to offer the most benefit to a younger patient with mild skin laxity and is more suited for prevention than as a serious treatment. Vzet may be marketed as ‘Ultherapy® light’ but the discomfort factor is high enough to warrant and topical numbing cream, which unfortunately doesn’t offer any significant pain relief.
The number one priority for Dr. Mosser and his staff is to offer only the most advanced and effective treatments with proven results. Having personally used similar ultrasound devices for skin tightening in the past, Dr. Mosser quickly realized that they don’t provide sufficient enough skin laxity improvement.
To contour the face and tighten skin around the neck and jawline, Dr. Mosser has been successfully performing a non-surgical treatment known as NovaThreads. This minimally-invasive technique uses surgical sutures with tiny barbs to anchor sagging skin for a lifting effect. Furthermore, the threads help to stimulate collagen in the treatment area resulting in firmer skin that can last for up to 12-18 months. Lifted facial contours thanks to NovaThreads can be enhanced even more with the Halo fractional laser by Sciton® which can help to soften fine lines and wrinkles, even out skin tone, remove pigmentation and smooth the skin’s texture.
Patients considering body contouring and fat reduction with Vzet may be very disappointed with its lackluster results. Far more robust and effective treatments are available for permanent lipolysis such as CoolSculpting. Instead of heating the skin, CoolSculpting targets specific trouble spots and freezes the fat cells in that area through a process called cryolipolysis. Approximately 12-16 weeks after each session patients will see their stubborn fat permanently reduced by up to 25%.
