San Francisco Liposonix – Contouring and fat reduction treatment. Learn the advantages and disadvantages of the Liposonix procedure from San Francisco’s finest skin experts at Azalasf.com
Demand for non-surgical body contouring procedures has skyrocketed in the last couple of years and there are more options available now than ever before. Liposonix is a fat reduction and body sculpting procedure currently being offered that’s specifically designed for the abdomen. It uses high-frequency ultrasound waves to destroy fat cells to slim and contour the waistline.
Once it has been determined that an individual is a good candidate for Liposonix, the clinician places a treatment head on a small section of the abdomen, moving it around pulse after pulse until the entire area has been covered. The device emits low intensity targeted ultrasound waves that bring focus to the subcutaneous adipose tissue while leaving the skin and surrounding areas untreated.
Liposonix is approved for use exclusively on the abdomen. It is not indicated for treatment on the arms. It can treat excess fat on the inner and outer thighs or love handles, but treatment by an experienced provider is advised. The success of the treatment largely depends on heating up fat tissues to a specific temperature for the apoptosis (cell death) to occur. The pain and discomfort of ultrasound therapy, however, can be too much for some people to handle and complaints about lack of clinical results are common.
By far the most popular and reliable body contouring and permanent fat reduction procedure to date is CoolSculpting. Rather than heating fat tissue, the device freezes your fat cells through a process called cryolipolysis. If you’re wondering does CoolSculpting work, you’ll be pleased to know that results are quite impressive, with the average person experiencing 20-25% reduction of fat (per session) in the targeted area.
The advantage of the FDA approved CoolSculpting machine is that it can be performed on more areas of the body than Liposonix. Specialized applicators of various shapes and sizes are designed to closely ‘hug’ targeted body zones such as love handles, thighs, arms, chin or stomach using a light suction. Cooling is then applied, freezing the fat for 35-80 minutes (depending on the applicator). Once the applicator is removed the frozen mound is massaged to further break down fat cells and assist the body in eliminating them. Results are typically noticeable after one to two months but continue to improve for up to 12-16 weeks.
The cost of CoolSculpting depends on how many areas are being treated and the number of visits that you’ll need to achieve your desired level of fat reduction. In most cases, 2-3 sessions may be needed for optimum results. It’s important to keep in mind that CoolSculpting is intended for body contouring and sculpting of stubborn fat and not for general weight loss. The perfect candidate is someone with a BMI 30 or less and within 20-30 lbs of their ideal body weight.
During your personalized consultation a clinician at Azala Medical Aesthetics will access each area to determine the size and shape applicators required, and the cost per session will be broken down for you in detail along with the different payment options.
