5 Expert Tips to Look Flawless on Your Wedding Day

You’re going to be a bride. Congratulations! Now comes the meticulous planning and preparations to make sure your special day goes off without a hitch. In between visits with the florist, the cake maker and the dress shop, remember the most important appointment of them all: your skin clinic.

You want perfect skin on your wedding day, don’t you? A great complexion doesn’t happen overnight. Depending on your unique skin concerns you may need up to several months to treat the problem and allow plenty of time for recovery. To help you plan your skin-perfecting journey in advance, we’ve put together a timeline so you know exactly which treatments to have and when.

Glamorous Eyes and Lashes: 3-4 Months

If you’d like to add a little ‘vavoom’ to your eyelashes then consider getting Latisse®. It’s a proven and safe medication that you apply into your lash line to grow your own lashes fuller, darker, and longer in just 16 weeks. It really works!

Many brides love Latisse® because unlike lash extensions which only last a few weeks, Latisse® amplifies your own lashes for similar yet longer-lasting results. Another big advantage with Latisse® is the low-maintenance factor. Once you’ve been using Latisse® for 16 weeks, your lashes will stay fuller and longer all throughout your wedding day and honeymoon.

Tip: Latisse® is available by prescription only so give us a call to book a quick appointment and pick up your bottle today. While picking up your Latisse®, you should also grab a good eye cream or serum. If you’re prone to dark circles, fine lines or dry skin around the eyes, then you can target any problem areas before your big day.

Banish Pigmentation and Vascular Concerns: 2-3 Months

Some types of hyperpigmentation can be difficult to disguise with makeup. The same goes for dilated blood capillaries and rosacea. The last thing you want to be worrying about on your wedding day is covering up pigmentation issues that can easily be treated in advance.

Here are some suggestions that will help you achieve clear, luminous skin that looks great even with minimal makeup. If you have mild to moderate hyperpigmentation or melasma then a series of skin peels in various strengths can remove excess melanin and even out your complexion. For more severe pigment lesions, we recommend a high-tech device such as our BBL Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). It targets both brown and red pigment concerns at the same time. Tip: three sessions of BBL are recommended four to six weeks apart.

Improve Skin Texture and Smoothness: 3-4 Months

For a beautiful and effortless makeup application, it helps to have a smooth complexion for your foundation. If your skin has minor imperfections such as acne scars, rough texture, enlarged pores or your complexion lacks luster then Microneedling can be your biggest BFF.

Microneedling helps to refine skin texture by using an automated pen called a SkinPen that deploys tiny needle punctures into your epidermis. As the skin heals, it produces collagen which gives the skin a smoother, plumper and more youthful appearance. Tip: Add Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for even better outcomes! Most people require more than one session. We recommend 3-4 treatments spaced four weeks apart for best results.

Dermal Filler for Improved Facial Contours and Volume: 6-8 Weeks

Whether you’re a bride in your 20’s, 30’s or beyond, a little dermal filler can enhance your appearance in subtle yet impactful ways. Cheek filler at any age can improve facial contours and symmetry. A small amount of lip filler can give your pout a pop of volume and definition that looks great at your reception and wedding photos. For the over-40 bride dermal filler can temporarily smooth nasolabial folds, define the jawline and minimize jowls.

Although the results with dermal filler such as Juvederm and Restylane are instant, it’s a good idea to give yourself at least 6-8 weeks before your wedding day. Bruising is a real possibility that can take several weeks to completely resolve. The filler also needs time to settle in before you can see the final results. Additionally, although it’s rare you may require a touch up or correction. Make sure there’s plenty of downtime to spare if that’s the case. By the time your wedding day comes around, your filler will look its absolute best and you can expect the results to last upwards of six to twelve months.

Botox to Smooth Wrinkles & Crow’s Feet: 4-6 Weeks

You’ll be doing a lot of smiling and laughing on your wedding day. Softening facial lines around the eyes, forehead and frown will help your makeup stay fresh well into the evening. Don’t worry! With expertly administered Botox injections you’ll keep your joyful expressions minus the makeup creases.

If you’ve never had a neuromodulator like Botox or Dysport before, then we recommend you come in at least six weeks before your wedding. We prefer to use a lower dose on your first visit to see how your facial muscles respond. It’s better to do a touch up and add more Botox later then overcorrect the first time. If you’re a regular Botox user and you’d like to keep the dosing the same then it’s fine to come in four weeks before the wedding.
